AvtaleGiro Service Agreement
For a payee to accept payments via AvtaleGiro, a contractual agreement is required between the payee and the payee’s bank. The agreement relates to a specific bank account where AvtaleGiro payments will be credited. It is best to contact your bank to begin the registration process. In some cases, it may be appropriate to set up a new account for AvtaleGiro, for example when:
- The payee changes the
KID structure as part of initiating AvtaleGiro
- The payee does not offer AvtaleGiro for all its services. This is to avoid
payment mandates being generated for services for which the payee does not wish to offer AvtaleGiro
Once a new agreement is made with the bank and processed by Mastercard Payment Services, an email will be sent to the contacts specified on the registration form with further information and notification that the service is ready for use.
Communication settings are included in the registration process. Payees often use ERPs to send, receive, and process data related to AvtaleGiro, and these ERPs must be specified in the agreement. If the payee is using an ERP which has already established communication with Mastercard Payment Services for AvtaleGiro, no testing is necessary. However, if the data sender/receiver is establishing AvtaleGiro communication for the first time, whether it’s a third-party or the payee themselves, testing must be performed before using the service.
The registration form can be downloaded
here (Norwegian version) andhere (English version) and can be submitted to your bank.

Reconciliation Service Agreement
In addition to the AvtaleGiro agreement, an agreement is required for a service which delivers reconciliation data to the payee. This agreement must be registered on the same account as AvtaleGiro and is the way the payee receives information about settled payments.
The reconciliation service most commonly used with AvtaleGiro is OCR (ocrgiro). OCR sends all reconciliation data for payments made with
KID. Other options are Egiro (egiro) and Innbetaling Total (innbetaling total).
OCR can be used not only for reconciliation data, but also for sending the payee data related to
payment mandates. Mandates can be sent in separate files if OCR is not selected as the payee’s reconciliation service.

Creditor Fee
There are both payer and payee fees in connection with AvtaleGiro. Payees who wish to do so may choose to pay the fee that would have otherwise been debited from the payer’s bank. This “creditor fee” is a standard amount, irrespective of what the payer’s bank actually charges. The payee’s bank can advise as to the size of the fee.
Payees who select this arrangement must indicate so in the AvtaleGiro service agreement:
“AvtaleGiro kreditorbetalt” = JA
“AvtaleGiro paid by creditor” = YES

Terminating a service agreement
A payee may terminate their service agreement(s) by contacting the payee’s bank. Upon termination, no payment claims will be settled, and payers’ banks will notify the payers that outstanding invoices must be paid by other means.
